Lerna

Lerna has 3 heads, 3 breasts, and a fish-like tail. She has claw scars on it, and on her middle head's right eye. Her hands have 5 fingers, and her feet have 4 toes; both possess razor sharp claws. She also has sharp, pointy teeth.

She has blue-grey skin (with dark spots near joints), red irises, and orange fins on her cheeks and at the end of her tail. Her pupils are thin and vertical; similar to a cat's.

In lieu of hair, Lerna's heads have dark blue tentacles. She can freely control them, but they're too physically weak to be more useful than regular hair. They also contribute to nonverbal expressions; for example, they stiffen up when she's surprised or shocked.

Lerna wears sturdy boots with open tips, short pants, long sleeves, and a shirt whose top half was cut off, leaving most of her torso bare, including her breasts. Her side heads wear bandanas, with the right one showing a faded skull. Her middle head's' "hair" is tied by two straps of the same grey-white cloth as her bandanas, sleeves and shirt.

Lerna's family has humble origins. Her parents were fishermen on the western Niddar Coast, who occasionally worked as navigators for merchant vessels. When Lerna was born, they paused that side activity to raise her for a while; but financial difficulties pushed them to resume it, and so they took Lerna with them a little after her first birthday.

Unfortunately, the merchant vessel was raided by pirates, led by a cruel Elven captain named Felyx. Everyone was killed, except Lerna, who was brought onboard; Felyx's associates convinced him she could become a fearsome fighter and loyal subordinate, if raised properly.

Eventually, Lerna learned the truth about her parents and their fate. She first had a hard time believing it all, but was quickly consumed by rage and hatred. She opened up to other crewmates who disliked Felyx, and convinced them to mutiny against him and his close associates.

They initially agreed not to kill anyone, but the mutiny unfortunately culminated in a bloody battle in which a sizeable portion of the crew was killed, among both Felyx's and Lerna's partisans. To this day, no one really remembers who drew first blood.

Felyx was eventually neutralised then dropped at a nearby island. Though Lerna left him with but his clothes, leaving him no chance to survive more than a couple days, she made it a point not to murder him outright, despite the inclinations of of the crew.

Lerna now leads most of Felyx's former crew as her own. She raids merchant vessels, fight other pirates when she deems them "unworthy" of that title, and searches for a variety of hidden treasures. Classic pirate activities, if you will. She tries her very best to kill as few of her opponents as possible; both for personal moral reasons, and because she thinks humiliation often yields better results than murder.

Lerna tells curious people she got her eye and tail scars in an epic battle, but she actually got them from her ship's cat, Smokepuff, when it once attacked her after she accidentally stepped on its tail.

Lerna and her closest associates are "wanted dead or alive" in a little over 20 different states.

Lerna's costume is primarily made of sailcloth, taken from the first ship she led a raid on.
